Knowledge is power: warning symptoms
Oncology experts agree that there are a number of signals that should not be ignored. If you recognize any of the following signs, pay serious attention to them:
1. Constant and severe pain.
Persistent pain in the upper abdomen, which often spreads to the back and intensifies after eating, is not just a simple discomfort. At first, it may occur intermittently, but over time it becomes constant and debilitating.
2. Jaundice
Yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes is a serious sign. This condition results from a buildup of bilirubin and is often due to compression or blockage of the bile duct by a tumor.
3. Unexplained weight loss.
Sudden weight loss without a change in diet or physical activity is a worrying symptom that often accompanies cancer.
4. Indigestion:
When the pancreas can’t produce enough enzymes, food isn’t broken down properly. This leads to bloating, heaviness, diarrhea, and an unpleasant feeling after eating.
5. Changes in bowel movements
The appearance of so-called “greasy stools” – light, with an unpleasant odor and difficult to wash off – is a sign that the body is not digesting fats. Sudden episodes of diarrhea or constipation are also possible.
6. Sudden development of diabetes
If a person with no previous history of diabetes suddenly develops this disease, the cause may be impaired pancreatic function, including an oncological process.
7. Constant fatigue and weakness
Chronic exhaustion, which is not affected by rest, is a frequent companion of malignant diseases and should not be underestimated.
8. Thrombus formation
Unexpected occurrence of thrombosis, especially in deep veins, may be an indirect signal of a serious internal problem, including pancreatic cancer.
9. Fever and chills
A fever combined with jaundice or inflammation of the pancreas is an additional worrying sign.
10. Severe skin itching.
Elevated bile salts in the blood, associated with jaundice, often cause persistent and excruciating skin itching.
