The local authorities also commented on the tragedy. One of the volunteer coordinators said::
“Although the end was sad, what we saw last week was inspiring: people who don’t know each other came together to help a stranger. It shows that empathy still exists.“
After the incident, several local churches organized vigils and prayers in his memory, and psychologists and volunteer groups provide emotional support to relatives. There is also a public memory that will honor his life-his friends describe him as generous, positive and full of love for people.
“We have lost an exceptional man,” said one of his friends. “But her story will remind us all that we must take care of each other and not stop looking when someone disappears. Every minute is precious, every life counts.“
On the banks, not far from the place where he was found, flowers and notes began to appear — silent proofs that, although his life was interrupted prematurely, his memory will remain.
