Turn your peelings into an eco-friendly and fragrant homemade cleaner

What if your kitchen waste became your best cleaning ally? Those citrus leftovers you’ve been throwing away can easily be transformed into a  natural, economical, and ultra-effective cleaning product , for a home that shines and smells good. A grandmother’s tip brought up to date!

The winning duo: white vinegar and citrus zest

White vinegar has long been a favorite for household cleaning.  But did you know that when combined with orange or lemon peel, it becomes even more effective?  This combination creates a multi-purpose degreaser with a fresh, natural scent that’s much more pleasant than the smell of vinegar alone.

Instructions in 6 steps

Take a clean glass jar (jam jar type).

Fill it 3/4 full with your well-washed citrus peels.

Cover completely with white vinegar.

Leave to macerate away from light for 2 weeks.  Patience is the key to success!

Strain the mixture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth.

Pour into a reusable spray bottle.

And there you have it! Your eco-friendly cleaner is ready to tackle dirt and bad odors.

Why does it work so well?

During maceration, the essential oils contained in the zest are gradually released. They provide their  natural antibacterial properties  while softening the acidity of the vinegar. The result? A product that cleans deeply, makes surfaces shine, and leaves a  delicious citrus fragrance  throughout the home.

Perfect for countertops, faucets, windows, and even the fridge.  100% natural, safe for children and pets.

No more expensive chemicals! This homemade version costs a few cents, reduces your waste, and protects your health.  What more could you ask for?  And let’s face it, it’s pretty satisfying to make your own cleaning products, right?

Customize according to your preferences

Vary the pleasures by testing different citrus fruits:  grapefruit for an invigorating scent, mandarin for a sweet note…  It’s up to you to create the fragrance that suits you!
